Who is Majd Azzam?
Majd Azzam was a Palestinian Dabke trainer who chose art as his path, his message, and his way of resisting despair. He was not just a dance instructor—he was a passionate mentor who believed in the power of culture to shape lives and preserve identity.
His Role at the Palestinian Cultural Palace
Majd played an active role in the Palestinian Cultural Palace, where he contributed to numerous cultural and artistic events. His work focused on:
One of his most meaningful contributions was his participation in training children at the Rachel Corrie Camp in 2023, where he worked closely with young participants, bringing joy, discipline, and creativity into their lives.
Art as a Message of Resistance and Hope
He believed that every step carried a story, and every performance was a declaration that Palestinian culture continues to live and thrive despite adversity.
A Life Taken Too Soon
At the beginning of the war on Gaza, Majd’s life was tragically cut short when Israeli airstrikes hit northern Gaza.
He was not involved in any conflict. He carried no weapon.
He was simply a young man dedicated to art, to teaching, and to spreading hope.
A Reality Without Safe Places
Majd’s only “fault” was that he lived in northern Gaza, in Jabalia Camp—a place where safety does not exist.
Like many others, he had nowhere to go, no refuge to seek. In a reality where no place is truly safe, survival itself becomes uncertain.
A Lasting Legacy
Although Majd Azzam is gone, his impact remains:
- In the steps of the children he trained
- In the performances he helped create
- In every life he touched through his passion
His story is not just about loss—it is about a generation striving to build life through art, even in the face of destruction.
